Canzei is a beautiful town that last year hosted the finish of a Giro d’Italia stage. Hotel Anders offers clients a warm and friendly welcome. The classy 4 star hotel has all the hallmarks of an Italy Bike Tours hotel.
On arrival at the hotel you will have time to unpack before our mechanics assist those who need to build their bikes and adjust bikes for those that have hired bikes. When all the group are ready we will head out on our first ride, setting off from the hotel we will head north towards Passo Sella.
Passo Sella in our opinion is the most beautiful climb in the dolomites. It also offers a great way to introduce the mind and legs to the challenge of the weekend. Not the hardest of the climbs in the dolomites, this 11.4km climb with an average of 6.6% is perfect in every way. The descent back to the hotel is something to look forward to!
Dinner will be served in the hotels award winning restaurant. A great way to get to know other members of the group over a glass of local wine.
After a typical Italian breakfast we will be on the bikes early as today we will be riding the route of Sella Ronda. Arguably the most famous ride in Italy the sella ronda route offers equal levels of challenge and spectacular scenery. It is also a day when a support vehicle comes in very handy as riders are able to leave clothes and nutrition in the van plus it’s great to have the knowledge that a mechanic is on had if you have any problems with the bike.
Our first climb of the day on leaving the hotel is Passo Pordoi, on reaching summit we will descend to the bottom of Campolongo. These names will be familiar to fans of the Maratona Dolomiti GF. Campolongo is a longer climb with the descent winding it’s way down in to the cycling friendly town of Corvara. Here we will regroup and stop for lunch before starting the steady ascent of Passo Gardena. The final climb of the day is Passo Sella but this time we will climb from the other side. The descent in to Canzie is by now familiar.
You can find out a little more about the route by clicking here. Needless to say today’s ride will be one of the most challenging and spectacular you would have done. ‘A ride of a cycling lifetime’ as a client once described it.
On arrival at the Hotel some clients may wish to use the excellent spa facilities to recharge the batteries and give the legs a well needed rest, Dinner will be well deserved and will once again be served in the hotel restaurant.
After yesterdays epic day on the bike we have one last epic challenge for you. The dolomites most fearsome climb is Passo Giau and this morning we will transfer you the short distance to Selva di Cadore. Here your bikes will be waiting for you and mechanics on hand to make any adjustments that maybe needed.
The 10km climb at an average of nearly 10% is relentless as it is beautiful. No climb in the dolomites offers such a brutal test of a riders ability of mental resolve. A climb for the purest and one that doesn’t disappoint even the most enthusiastic cyclist.
On arrival back to the hotel our support team will assist you with packing your bike boxes. The evening you are free to explore Canzie and it’s many restaurants, cafes and bars.
All good things most come to an end and after your final breakfast, last minute photos and emotional goodbyes we will transfer you to your hotel for your afternoon flights.
