The Ultimate Trio weekend is very popular with clients from all over the world. Based in the heart of the Alps, just outside the ski resort of Bormio, this once in a lifetime trip that is perfect for clients wishing to ride roads ridden by many cycling greats. Please see below for what is included in the this fully supported trip.
Day 1: Pick up from airport. Evening leg loosener.
On arrival to Milan Linate or Milan Bergamo Airports you will be met by the Italy Bike Tours Team before we leave for our outward journey to the high Alps!
When arriving at the hotel in Bormio your Italy Bike Tours team will be in place to assist you setting your bike up and when ready, your guides will take you on a leg loosener before dinner to help get you orientated.
After your Stelvio specific dinner you will be given a briefing on the following day’s ride. This is important as it gives riders the chance to ask questions and the team to give out important information.
We suggest an early night for everyone as in the morning the challenge will begin!
Day 2: The Stelvio 80km – 2,100 metres climbing
After a hearty breakfast we will set off from the hotel in the direction of the Stelvio but not before your guides will take you on a 20km relatively flat ride before tackling your first challenge of the weekend: The Stelvio. Over 21km of ascent awaits the brave as the group head for the summit of Europe’s highest paved pass.
On reaching the summit you will be met by the team who will be waiting for you with a warm drink and our professional photographer will be snapping away providing you with proof to your friends and family you completed the first challenge of the week.
After a safe descent back down the Stelvio, being sure to take in the epic views of snow capped mountain and alpine lakes and streams. We will meet back at the hotel for some well deserved chill out time.
Day 3: Passo Gavia & Mortirolo 120km – 2,400 metres climbing
An early start this morning as we assemble after breakfast outside the hotel ready for your second challenge. A challenge that for many will be by the hardest physical effort of their lives! From Bormio you will immediately start climbing towards the summit of Passo Gavia. At over 2500m this is sure to be a test for those that still have a little ‘Stelvio’ in their legs.
Once again the team will be waiting for you at the summit and will be ready to distribute warm clothes for the descent down in to Ponte Di Lengo. More than 30km of descending needs to be completed before reaching the bottom of Mortirolo. Whilst the summit is ‘only’ 1800m the severity of the incline (20 percent) in sections has made Mortirolo famous world wide.
Needless to say all those that reach the summit of Mortirolo can consider themselves to have done something very special. The ride back to the Bormio along Valtallina is one to enjoy in the knowledge that you have completed the cycling challenge of a lifetime
The evening will be spent celebrating the achievement with a traditional Italian supper. A wonderful way to cap a brilliant weekend of riding.
Day 4: Depart
The typical flights from Milan or Bergamo depart either late morning or early afternoon. This leaves you with the dilemma of going for one more quick spin up the mountain or down to the lake. Either way we will transport you back to your airport for emotional goodbyes and transport your bike back home should you require this popular service
